Broken match making

I got into a promos for Gold 3 nothing impressive since its pre-season. Got an offrole so i had to play adc and 2 of my teammates were playing really bad not that i told them anything in game.After the game of the curiosity i wanted to check their ranks and turns out first guy was Bronze 1 while the second guy was Iron 2 so i just have a qeustion how does someone who has Gold 2 MMR get matched up with bronze and iron people right in my promos? i dont remember last time someone that was bronze on my team let alone iron.....
