Child kept waving at me.

Am I the only one in the world who finds this pissing weird? A random child was on a bus, that I was traveling behind kept waving at me. It wouldn't stop waving. For about four miles it kept doing this. As if it's a normal thing to just wave at someone randomly? Why do I still feel weird about it all hours later? Why don't parents tell their kids to not wave at strangers. What if he ended up...doing...things to the child because of a wave?
