how do replays work exactly ?

i had some really amazing matches today but sadly wasnt recording them , if i want to record them , and have the camera stay on me , can i do that ? i thought about maybe just starting the 23 minute game replay , then go do something , where i wont be able to permanently keep an eye on the screen , if i die , does the camera automatically return to me and stuff like that ?
