: He has the third highest amount of cc in the game... only beaten by orrn and gnar (and gnar is cheating). His CC is vastly better than Ali or cho (both knock ups are on a longer cooldown than naut passive, and naut passive can be spread to every enemy player pretty easily). His cc is no where near an issue... the issue is that his damage is bad so there is no point in picking him top or jungle and support naut gets out shone by other tank supports who get tankier for less gold.

Fair enough, but Naut has to auto attack in order to proc his passive and it affects only a single target. Ali and Cho just seem to have more hard CC at their disposable. Wouldn't the point of picking him as jungle be to allow his laner to get the kill? Just because he doesn't deal that much damage doesn't mean his laner can't. Unless he's super behind, of course.

How is that not enaugh CC? Can it pin down the enemy team long enough for his team to do their thing? Because according to you, he can't. The only CC of note that he has is a knock up that's on a long cool down. If he had more CC he would be more of a threat. Maybe a taunt or something, idk.

: The core issue with the concept of low damage tanks is, enemies would just ignore them. If tanks wouldn't provide any threat, then they are straight up useless. In PvE games this is not an issue, because you can draw aggro from the enemies by abusing their behaviour, but in PvP this is another story. A tank that is solely there to soak up damage is no threat and thus completely useless. Giving them alot of CC is not a viable solution either, because there are squishy champions who can engage just as well if not even better than tanks: {{champion:1}} {{summoner:4}} +R {{champion:61}} R {{champion:497}} And additionally champions like this can even deal damage or provide utility. Tanks who solely soak up damage provide nothing. This is why they have damage, because otherwise they wouldn't be viable. But the huge drawback of that is obviously, why pick a normal damagedealer if a tank can do that aswell, and on top of that being able to survive more damage?

But the huge drawback of that is obviously, why pick a normal damagedealer if a tank can do that aswell, and on top of that being able to survive more damage? I do not agree. The thing about the squishy champions with CC is that they can get killed easily. In theory, a tank can cast more CC more often as it survives for longer. So yes, a tank with hardly any damage but with lots of CC and engage potential can be a threat, provided they are tanky enough.

Hard CC is good against everything. Dying in less than a second because someone built an item might seem fun to you, but its annoying to me. Xerath is a pretty fun mage with a lot of poke, but there is some pretty stupid shit with his kit. Like, his E has a shorter stun at close range. Why? How is that supposed to protect me when I get dived? I don't need a long stun at long range, because I can cast spells pretty quickly. His ult is obnoxious to hit too; there's a huge delay and a small AoE.

New Graves as also intended to be a bot lane champ, actually. He was just so bad at it he was played top and then eventually the jungle.

: Aatrox
So...he was like every other auto-attack based champion then? Because "stat-checking" pretty much covers every dps based champion. If Tryndamere, Yasuo, Jax and Yi and marksmen can exist in League, then so could have old Aatrox.

How so? If used effecively he can be dangerous. Those engages. Now Karthus, that's a shitty champ. Especially his passive. With Sion you can chase. With Karthus if your opponent just walks away you are screwed. I think it would be more effective if all of his abilities come off cool down when he dies. Nothing is more frustrating when you die and you can't even use his Ult because its 1 second off cool down. Oh, and maybe tweak his q so its not a constant button mash.

Before Aatrox was an auto attack based champion. Now he's more like a caster. That's not Aatrox to me, that's Riven.
: Not every champion has to be game-changing...
Or they could just stop new making champions and refine what they have. There are over 150 champions in the game, and most of them rarely see play because they just aren't good. And instead of fixing that Riot just makes another champion which just adds to the problem. Since they are already so many champions, they have to constantly think of new mechanics to make a new champion distinct. Which is why you can get some outlandish stuff. And sometimes the "unique" changes aren't even unique; the new Aatrox has a lot in common with Riven now. Both are caster based melee champions, both have a dash and both have a 3 cast ability with a knock up. On the flip side, when they do rework an existing champion they tend to completely miss the mark and make the champion so different that its hardly the same champion anymore. New Aatrox doesn't feel like old Aatrox and New Swain doesn't field like old Swain for example. And for players who really liked their old playstyles and became accustomed to them that's a huge problem, as the time they invested into learning that champion is now wasted, and the playstyle they loved is now gone.

Rioter Comments
: Quick question to all the new Swain Mains
No, so you have to pretty much mash R before he inevitably dies, because his sustain is crap now.
: Swain's W feedback. My Opinion
Its the delay that hurts it. Why they decided to give a 10+ second cooldown ability that doesn't even apply the slow before detonating a 2.5 second delay is beyond me. If Riot was smart, they would have given it a 1.5 second delay, the same duration as E's Root, so that there could be some sort of synergy.
TyrDaishi (EUW)
: New Swain
Yeah, no idea what they were thinking when they designed him, because he's useless as a laner. He really needs his team to set him up now, but since he does so badly in lane he doesn't really bring anything substantial. If you want a tanky midlaner, use Galio. Hell, use _Ryze_. Ryze at least has a reliable root that doesn't have a bloody stupid way of triggering. Ryze's kit actually synergizes together. Even Vlad is a better choice, because Vlad actually has sustain and abilities that are actually useful for him to use. Swain has no durability, hardly any sustain, a schizophrenic kit that doesn't work right, and no range. The absurdly long range on his W doesn't sync together with his kit, and the fact it doesn't apply the slow before denoted, thereby allowing E to be set up, was a moronic design choice. Oh, but he can ult and turn himself into a bomb, some might say. Well guess what, so can Fiddle and Nunu, and they do it better. Sion has that sort of ability on a shorter cooldown. And all three actually bring something to the team.
: Holy sh!t, stop banning Swain!
Yeah, Swain isn't really worth a ban. He can deal damage, but his kit really doesn't work together and he needs help from his team in order to effectively use his kit, which for a short ranged mage is pretty disappointing. All he really needs, imo, is for his W to apply the slow before it detonates, or at least reduce the delay. Then he can follow up with his E and get a nice combo. But at the moment he can't really get a combo because his kit doesn't allow him to set it up, unless he gets really lucky and his opponent is asleep at the keyboard.

He also gets -10% DMG on every Crit he does over the whole Time. > Thats nothing too crazy. There is worse in the game. Considering how its still 90% extra damage that's happening multiple times, its still an absurd amount of damage, especially early game. All he needs is a phantom dancer and he can out damage most opponents.
: nerf swain
Considering how badly designed his kit is, he pretty much needs the damage to stay relevant. His kit has like, no synergy. You'd think his W would work like Jhin's E in that it slows before dealing damage, but nope, that would make sense. So what you have is an ability with a long delay and a really long cooldown that doesn't set up his E (which is also pretty jank, as it doesn't immobilize unless its returning), which in turn makes it harder for swain to get anywhere near close enough to deal optimal amounts of damage. I like the soul fragment mechanic, but other than that feels like a bad rework.

That doesn't exist in league, except in extreme circumstances. Like, Nasus somehow getting 1000 stacks or some nonsense. An instant kill is when it doesn't take much time to kill someone, to the point they can't even react. There's a lot of that in league.

Considering how he needs help to actually get close enough to deal damage, I can see that.

How the hell did you get instant killed by a champion with telegraphed attacks that have no real synergy together that needs to be close up to do anything, and yet can't reliably get there? His W has a long delay before it does something, his E doesn't root when it hits something unless it hits at max range and you can't even call it back when you want, and his Q is pretty nice but it has really short range.

The burst is way too high in this game now, and there are so many particle effects that teamfights just devolve into a short lived blur of flashy colors where no one knows what's happening, but of course clarity and planning doesn't matter, because it looks so flashy and cool, right?

I've noticed something weird about the chests too. I've only received ward skins so far, when I would usually receive a champion skin. His passive, his little ranged attack, mace and his ult are pretty cool. Maybe give him a slow on his ranged spell, make his W useful (like, idk, give it hard cc or some sort of debuff). If he can actually catch up to dudes for long enough to proc his mace without relying on items and summoners then he would be in a good place. Nasus can do that already; his W allows him to catch up to enemies long enough to hit them with an empowered Q. Why can't Morde do that?

Vek'Koz is played midlane, per his design, but also as a support. You're right about Amumu not being a Yordle, but Poppy certainly is, and she is played Jungle (competitively and in ranked). That could be a new addition to the lore, about how the Noxian military is adopting wide spread use of firearms at the behest of Swain, and how they are equipping conscripts with mass produced, crude flintlocks or whatever it is that MF and Gangplank uses. An experimental hextech rifleman regiment would also be fluffy. That combines Noxian sorcery with tech. The idea is that they use a magic to make what is basically a railgun, firing a solid, magic sheathed projectile at high speeds. As its still physical, magical defenses would have no effect. There could be a noxian champ that uses exactly that; maybe something of a Simo Haya jungler expy, who uses a rifle and picks off targets from bushes or stealth or something.

: I thought if someone wanted new champs, they just reroll 3, and get new ones /2 level (well 1.5). Besides that, you still have your weekly chests, which also can drop shards. Is this system really that bad as everyone say?

It's only been a day, so probably not. The only real problem with the patch I've had so far is that it feels like everythings deals so much more damage with the new keystones.

That precision keystone with the 3 hit proc seems designed to kill tanks, as you deal a burst of damage followed by dealing even more damage, and there's another precision rune that gives bonus damage against targets with more health than you, effectively making it a free last regards. ADCs certainly seem better against tanks, which is how it should be.

: Why is that happening to me ??????????????????
You get a huge boost of exp from first win of the game. It seems that riot is trying to avoid encouraging people to play obsessively just to level up. You'll probably be better off playing just a couple of games a day, and spend the rest of the time doing something else. Like sleeping or reading or something.
