So.... in the interest of sticking in the spectrum of black and white. If you use 3rd party software to achieve this (This could include changing game files manually) in Riots current stance this is breaching the ToS as it alters the player experience, yes even if its just your experience. Part of the risk of to using 3rd party software to achieve this is that if you haven't built it yourself you cannot be 100% sure as to what its doing in the background or if some subset of its process is not breaching the rules. In this case I would suggest that if you want to experience League in another language to download the client specifically for that language and play on your chosen server. I hope this helps

I want to play in EUW and EUNE servers using a full-Japanese client. To achieve that i'd have to modify a game file and add a line, so that those two regions get Japanese language available to select among the basic ones. There was a YT tutorial on that. No hidden OP advantages here, just another language. Is it something I could get banned for? It is against the Terms but I feel it's a bit unfair, because it's just another language. My friends would love to do that to, but we are sentenced to English version. I don't really understand why LoL client doesn't have more languages available in the respectable regions than the local ones in the first place. With kind regards, Yuki

: Well even the use of teamspeak may be banned for it being a thirdparty programm and altering your ingame play(and it gives you indeed some advantages) But we all use it and dont get banned. So send a ticket to the supp and if are not clearly stating it is forbidden the feel free to do it,

I got both.
: I laughed at this... "I don't get this argument about playing in mother language". If that is Riot's requirement then they should start supporting Dutch (which they chose not to even before S1). Or else a lot of Dutch players should be banned XD XD XD

AFAIK there's no statement if doing that manually is ok. Sure, no 3rd programs and no in-game advantages. The problem is, we were only hinted that. That's not a 100% sure thing, we WON'T get banned for that.
: Personally if I would spend half a year in japan, I would want my client language to be japanese to improve more, and get more into the language. But on the other hand, no harm done to open up a client to language which exists already elsewhere

But on the other hand, no harm done to open up a client to language which exists already elsewhere That's my point! I'm going for a national certificate of my Japanese skills and need as much practice as I can get.
: You can get Japanese voices without any 3rd party programs (with Japanese client) pretty easily. 1. Change the server to Japan in the launcer 2. Let it patch the game 3. Change the server back to EUW (or the one you play on) 4. Go to C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\RADS\system 5. Open the file called "Locale" in notepad 6. Change "locale = en_gb" into "locale = ja_jp" 7. Done

We need an official statement here!

: Heya I know that french guy, i was poking around what happened there aswell. Yes he had changed his Voicefiles, but he was not banned for that. In the same reddit thread you actually get a statement from Riot that he was not banned for his voicefile-change. The support answer was very poorly written and actually made me think that me might be banned for the Voicefiles. Probably he tried to be vague so that the player could not use trial and error to find out more information than the support is allowed to give away or so. There are quite some ppl that said there were banned for customskins or voicepacks, but every case i know turned out to be false and them beeing banned for something else. And yeah, your support answer probably was the blitzcrankbot or an copypasted answer. Why? Because officially no 3rd party tool is allowed, at best they are tolerated. That is simply to the fact that Riot can´t control there. Regards Rkoturdo
Hiya so what you are saying is, that all these people were some kind of cheating? From what I understood, 3rd party programs are instaban upon detection. Yes, officially all of them are forbidden and not-so-officially, they are acceptable unless they give the player some sick in-game advantage. If the program has an option to give this kind of superiority, even if not used, might get you a ban. That's what I got from the Support's answer. And yes, those who posted their voicepack-ban ss could have got suspended for scripting and that stuff. One can never be sure which is the true. I never really liked that custom skins idea, but in the case of the voicepack it's much different. I'm just asking Riot to make it official and allow players use the Japanese client. The hype is real and many troubling situations could be avoided by just adding 1 or 2 languages to the European clients (Korean and Japanese voicepacks are prolly the most popular). It's not much effort compared to all these i-got-banned posts - people waste time and nerves wondering and wandering with no clue. Why should people be afraid to play a game in another language? I'm not supporting the change-via-programme method, though. Is changing a client's language with NO 3rd party programmes still banable? Yes, it's against the rules, but it's still harmless. The question is: why make it so mysterious and feared? It's not about replacing official skins for fanmade ones. It's about using stuff made by Riot for another server, officially supported there. It's not adding or removing any of the game's elements. It's using different assets. They are all accessible or rather will be after the official Japanese launch. Is the different location that big deal? I'd really love to see some Riot statement here, please. Cheers! :)
: Calculating differences, 5000+ files scanned
I sometimes need to reinstall or repair the game and mine gets past 7k I believe. Get a cup of tea or coffee, whatever you prefer and just wait. I know it takes a while, but there's no choice I guess. Cheers! :)
: Heya I dont know any case where someone got banned for changing their Voicepack. Do you have any proof about that? If i recall correclty Riot is working on japanese Voicepacks for EuW(not 100% sure though). Also, Riot has a rather clear policy on 3rd party software. If it gives you an advantage it is not allowed. Voicepacks dont really fall into that position and as i said, i dont know any case where someone was banned for voicepacks. Regards Rkoturdo
I've seen Reddit post as well as some lol portals in different languages, One French guy got banned and posted all the info he got and screenshots. He used Wooxy for changing his in-game voice to Korean. Below guides on changing client's language ppl posted their pics of getting banned. I also asked support directly in a ticket - probably bot responded. Any 3rd party program or modifying game's files is banable. No matter if it gives the advantage or not. Using custom skins or other mods is just less risky to be detected by the system. Why not make it official then? Some people got banned for using Winter SR skin afaik too. Can't tell how many of them were actually scripters, but anyway some official statement would be more than great. I seriously hope, we can get a Japanese voicepack. If a full JP client would make our lives harder (ppl not understanding it) then I'm totally fine with an option to change the voices only. I learn Japanese myself, but i know many ppl don't and they still might want the voicepacks. It's my job to find hot topics for nice articles, so I try to do so. The only info I found is that Riot might co-op with lvoc developer, maybe they're gonna make it a white-listed programme. Still waiting for the Redpost tho. Cheers! :)
