It's good to see the 'fine' ping. What I suspect is that your ISP is routing you via 'cheaper' internet uplinks for them during peak time. This is why you are affected in the evenings. They swap back to their premium lines when there isn't much bandwidth being used (during the day). Hopefully they can route to our servers via Frankfurt or Milan in the evening after reading my email. Let's keep our fingers crossed :) Laslow

Hi Sulfiie!! I have emailed your ISP to see if they can fix what has been changed. I see that you used to come to our servers via Milan. Now it seems as though you are going East instead which is increasing ping time significantly. Hi, Unfortunately your ISP only peers in Lisbon which we dont have a connection point at. We had a similar issue with NOS and we were able to peer with them in Madrid. Again, since your ISP doesn't peer in Madrid, unfortunately we cannot do the same. The issue is between TATA (AS6453) and Level3. We do not have contacts at TATA and when we reached out to them they weren't very responsive. I will ask our Level3 team if they can help, but when we asked them for help with the previous issue they weren't able to. The best course of action right now is to show your ISP this information and ask them to talk to TATA to figure out what is going on with that connection, maybe they will have more luck than us. Hi RedCrazy! Looking at your trace route it looks as though the first hop (probably your cable modem) seems to have very high latency - this indicates it's something local to your network, either your PC, the drivers, wifi, or the modem itself. | 10.0.0.138 - 1 | 101 | 100 | 0 | 11 | 984 | 1 | Those numbers should ALL be 1ms inside of your home. I'd recommend first trying a wired connection if you aren't already and then next rebooting ALL THE THINGS :D (mostly the router). If that still doesn't fix it, I'd reach out to your ISP and see if they can swap the hardware or check the connection. I hope this helps you get back onto the fields of justice :) Laslow

We are working with their NOC to find out what's going on and have alerted them to the issues we are seeing.

Yup. That's related. Most Spanish and Portugese ISP's are affected. Anyone that would normally come in to our Madrid POP is now being routed via the Internet to game servers.

Apologies, Since we are having backbone issues between Spain and Amsterdam right now I will not be applying our changes unless that comes back up. The backbone issues are related to fiber cuts with one of our providers. They are working to resolve these fiber cuts. Once that's been repaired I'll make my changes and update this thread. Hi friends! We have reverted our changes so Orange Poland players should now be back to where you were before (or close to it). We'll be attempting to optimize more on Monday. Just as a heads up on what we are doing that caused this is we are trying to stabilize your ping while also keeping it low. I talked to some people who know a lot about the client data and this is what they told me. TLDR: Your ping is spiking because of packets per second. During loading screen you are getting hardly any packets from the server (maybe 2 or 3pps -packets per second). When the game starts, again, there is very little going on. Apparently when you see that spike in ping is when the server starts sending out much more information at a very high rate (told to me in 100's of packets per second). Something in your path to the servers is not handling this well. My guess is TE Data but without having someone there to talk to I cannot verify this. It could also be local to your home - a router, the PC, etc. I know this doesn't help much because you just want to play the game :( But I did not want to leave this thread hanging and have been trying to figure out what the heck's going on here! Maybe armed with this new information you can open a ticket with TE Data or try router reboots to see if it helps with the ping. I am very interested to know what your fix is because this may happen to other players and I'd like to point them somewhere instead of just describing the problem. I want to make sure it's clear though that this isn't server side obviously because the bandwidth and policies allow many many more packets per second than what's needed. Let me know. Thanks!! Las

Hey everyone, If you are still having a problem I'd like for you guys to open a ticket. It seems this was more of a 'bug' than a network issue? I have checked everything from a network perspective and I can't find issues related to what's going on here. Also it's strange that it was fixed for some with no changes on our side. Potentially something to do with either TE Data or an upstream provider blocking something after the game starts (this could be anything and since I don't have visibility here it's hard to even guess). Sorry I couldn't help everyone in this thread but I'm glad at least for the OP the issue seems to have gone away. If you are having actual network lag, go ahead and start a new thread with the info I asked for and let's see if we can get a group of people from the same region with issues so that I can have an idea of where to start troubleshooting :) Thanks so much for everyone that provided feedback in this thread. There seem to be a lot of different issues in this thread but I'm focusing on the Egyptian ones since it's the most prominent. This may not fix all the issues but if there is a connection between us and them currently that is having an issue, peering could help. They have responded that they will look into our peering suggestion and hopefully we will hear something this week.

Hey guys, Riot Laslow here (sorry for no red tag on EUW). I work in the Riot Direct group and am involved with helping to make the ping better/more consistent. Especially in EU. If you could please provide the following information if you are having issues and I can try to see if there is anything on our side that we can do. ISP Normal Ping Latest Ping Spiking or Consistent? Traceroute to: 104.160.141.1 if you play on EUW or Traceroute to: 104.160.142.1 if you play on EUNE To run a traceroute open your command prompt by clicking start, then run, then type in CMD and then in the window type tracert 104.160.141.1 (for example to EUW). Please paste a copy of the traceroute in your response here. Make sure to only include the traceroute and no identifying information from your computer like computer or user name. Once I gather a bunch of these I will see if we can find a correlation. Sometimes the best we can do is just notify the ISP that you guys are having trouble, but that's better than nothing :) Thanks everyone! Laslow
