: This community is SO goddamn pessimistic
I wouldn't say I'm overly pessimistic, and I'm not exactly a super high elo, but I can rest assured in my game knowledge in the ridiculous amount of time I have spent in this game that I can judge when a game will be winnable or not based on early deaths. Yes, someone might have died in the first few minutes, but if you are paying attention to how the fight went out, you can pretty accurately judge wether or not that lane is over already: Player mistakes - was it a genuine misplay? even a one trick can make mistakes. Champion powerspikes - just an early Renekton powerplay? Champion Scaling - Gangplank top? Kog'Maw bottom? Then include factors like cs comparison, summoners used (teammates and opponent), opponents remaining HP, did the opposing jungler gank?, minion positions, and you can get a general idea if the lane is over. _I will edit in here: sure, just because one lane is down the game might not necessarily be lost overall, but when one lane falls behind hard it makes it very difficult to keep up to pace if no other lane is making up for the losses incurred. _ But what really annoys me is when a game is absolutely not winnable, like 0-21 not winnable, and people insist on not forfeiting and just enduring the intense pounding. You gain nothing from being completely stomped, and it certainly isn't good for learning despite what some crazy people might think.

: I searched the boards prior to posting, and the last post asking this was a year ago; Prior to that, another year beforehand. I've no idea where you keep seeing these posts, but it apparently isn't here. There seems to be more of a prevalence of reply's to questions, that have offer nothing useful to contribute. As to why anyone would ask? They individual cost is the same as a tier 1 champion, and their purpose is only to overcome the inconvenience of having to switch around your rune set in the pre-game lobby. Of course people are going to be interested in spending less on these, and more on building their champion pool. Anyway... for anyone interested - As if by magic, Riot responded to this today in their Q & A today: > Is there going to be a 2 for 1 rune page sale again? > Definitely! We held off from having one of these for a while as we prepared for Runes Reforged. Now that you’ve all gotten used to how the new runes work—this was me in the beginning = ¯\_(ツ)_/¯—we’ll be bringing them back on a recurring basis. The next one we do will be with return of the Essence Emporium later this year.
Oh, my mistake, I hadn't even realised rune pages were actually still in the game lul...I got 13 for free when rework started and thats far more than I'll ever need. I wrongly assumed everyone had that many by default.
: Master yi q untargetability bug (Riot watch)
Okay here's the gist: The interaction happened too fast, you did Q, correct, but Malzahar also did R, correct. But you managed to alpha strike in the frames before the suppression begins, and he manaed to ult you in the frames before alpha strike begins. Now here's the fun part: You are untargetable, but you are not _immune_, so the ult persists, you continue to take damage and the play continues, it's like if you ignite a fizz before he jumps on his pole, he will still take damage, or if malz presses E on you before you alpha, you can still take damage during. I'm sure with similar timing Xayah R or fizz E would have the same fate, of course it's an extremely small window. Hence, doesn't happen too often and would be hard to replicate efficiently. Besides, it's yi, play a good champ that isn't right click to win lul...

I would recommend avoiding them like the plague. The best way to climb is to pick and focus on carry champs. Those champs who can gain a lead more easily and snowball into a team victory. I'm not super well versed in top lane but I would pick Renekton and Urgot, safe kits, crazy 1v1 fighters, and insane carry champs when fed. Mid: Ahri, Kat, Zed Jungle: Shyvana, Warwick, Zac ADC: Vayne (fleet footwork + relic start), Miss Fortune, Caitlyn Support: Brand, Zyra. Just because a champ is easy does not mean you will have an easy time, easier champs are easier to get beaten when using. But then how will everyone know about the ridiculous amount of money I have spent on this free to play game? In all seriousness though this is a nifty idea. Personally I wouldn't use it but I can see why some might, however it would be a vast minority which may make it less worthwile implementing.
: Choosing my champion pool for S8
My two cents: Pick someone from outside the box. My personal choices are Zyra and Morgana. No one expects them mid, so might not have as much practice vs these champs in one on one situations. Zyra has huge zoning/shoving/poking and cc tools that let her be super oppressive in lane while staying safe under her turret, arcane comet keystone is just hilarious as her thorn spitters proc it from crazy range, she is my main go to in all cases unless she is banned. Plus, she has great peel for when another laner may have got the upper hand so you can even protect others if you can't carry that game. Morgana can be a bit tricky to balance cs and trading with her harsh cooldowns, but the buff to her kit a few patches ago really helped her in trading, I've been able to outplay even slippery Zed players with Morgana, 'nuff said. Rush cdr, always take transcendence, and revel in your massive AP scalings as your Q-Dark Binging half healths squishies. Plus her Black Shield negates CC for as long as it sustains, keeping you safe from ganks! {{sticker:sg-jinx}} Then lastly, if you're autofilled support you already get practice on two great supporters (I generally run Mid/Supp anyway but the extra practice is great)
: It's like you try to evade the question, what's wrong with auto attacking to direct your plants? Doesn't that let you decide precisely what you want to do? Waveclear or harass? With what you explained, the current system seems ideal to me. Just auto them. It's one right click.
The max range you can hit with Q and plants is farther than auto.
: Which leads me to believe a single, futile change to the targeting AI of the plants wont really make her a viable solo laner either, am I correct?
It will help a lot with early harass or in some cases last hitting a champ, there's been times I've been out of range to auto but able to Q, W, W only for thorn spitter plants to ignore the champ in their face as a minion has been "targeted"
Febos (EUW)
: I'm talking about Bronze, Silver and Gold. Those are the ratings that matter for this discussion. You can abuse Zyra in those ratings. She's just as strong as other similar champions: {{champion:45}} {{champion:34}} {{champion:30}} {{champion:161}} All of which have some traits in common with Zyra: - Mid range - Immobile - Zoning champions Whether or not she's better as a support than she's as a mid laner I can't tell since no one actually plays her mid. The potential is there though.
> [{quoted}](name=The Febos,realm=EUW,application-id=39gqIYVI,discussion-id=zAzvPi7J,comment-id=00010000000000000000,timestamp=2017-07-13T11:51:49.311+0000) > > Once you get your first item you should be able to 1 shot mage minions A full rotation with early CD's, the last thing you're wanting is to be on the backfoot just to clear 3 minions... I don't get why it's so hard to understand that the only real ask here is **As soon as a plant is spawned, acquire a champ target before anything else if applicable** It would take literally one or two hits from a plant for any real player to move out of range after that it's fine...early game the damage isn't too big to render it a major threat.
: So it seems. I can't really come up with any other reason either.
It's like you're not even attempting to read...
Febos (EUW)
: So, what's the point? If they removed it previously what makes you think that they would put it back in again?
Because it negatively affects solo lane Zyra's harass/poke potential to the point that she is hardly picked at all. Continuing on that, she's not even considered a solo laner any more and primary role a support, despite 3 out of 4 abilities being damaging abilities.
Febos (EUW)

: MF doesn't need a buff
MF is in an odd spot right now...I think she is pretty balanced as she is, you only pick her in certain comps since she has no real mobility and defense. But she is far from a go to adc. Which is not a bad thing. Her pick rate is below 5%, further backing this. She only works in certain cases, and in those cases she shines.

: Is heimerdinger a good champion to one trick?
OT Zyra got me to gold. Your best bet is to pick something that fills multiple roles, I could play Zyra top, mid and supp so even if autofill hit me I was still in my element. Heimer is good for this too but his stun is a lot harder to perfect than a Zyra root, plus his mana costs are huge now, so it's not the best supp in the world, but still manageable. Some people say one trick is a bad idea, but it helps you focus on a lot of other aspects of the game once the character becomes second nature. Your CS improves, your laning improves, your team fights improve and game knowledge also improves, you already learned your champ, now you're learning your interactions with other champs and what they do. Also, dont rage when you autofill supp, this is the biggest issue in bronze/silver. Edit: Don't forget to have backup champs for the off chance you're banned out...I remember when zyra was flavour of the month after her rework, god it was horrible...so you may be a one trick but you still have to have knowledge of other champs to an extent you can play them comfortably. Edit 2: Actively picking support as your off role also ensures faster queues, plus you will learn 4 champs at the same speed of 2 in other lanes, if I'm not in a Zyra mood I can comfortably play almost every ADC and Support at an acceptable level for ranked.

: Basically, we a basic attack comes out it can't be stopped, meaning that because he got in range of you to basic, he was guaranteed the knockback.
But we can see the condemn hits, then he travels, he is stunned (twice, condemn plus blitz punch), and the charge still connects.

: indeed but for ivern i need a premade team becuse ivern in soloq isnt much helpful.. about zac i think this could a thing for me maybe not but i will try out WW he has similar gap closer like yi's Q and he is kinda better then Yi he has early CC and alot of ms and his ult wont be a problem when u get that down lol.. i think i found a new champ to main..
See, this is also what stops lower elo advancing, it's not a matter of "could be a thing for me but maybe not", it's a matter of "what is strong and who can I best utilise to win". Zac is immensely strong, both in ganking, tanking and even damage if need be. Lastly, forget about maining a champ, broaden your champ pool to suit as many needs as possible.
: Katarina and Vayne question
To be honest it sounds like you committed to the fight for too long, if he threw dagger at you, it lands _behind _ the target, so he most likely didn't dash again, the first dash just closed the gap already, allowing the second dash to finish you off.
: Can we talk about this?
Ivern, Zac, Warwick. Yi is known as a bronze stomper for a reason, he crushes lower elo but generally people will know to just ward and not be an idiot to die to his terrible ganks, same goes for champs like Jax. I would just avoid bronze stompers though, they can be fun but you will want a good champ that can carry into higher elo as well.

If you watch vel'koz as you cast E you will see it has a particle effect, it's fast but it is still being cast and travelling from him to target
: I'm not sure about how you could force the new client update, maybe you should contact Riot support for that (or try the Hextech Repair Tool, it helped me fix some shit). As for the recording, as long as the game is inside the current patch, you can download it from your match history. In other words, if you manage to get the new client working before the next patch comes out, you can still download this match in your Match History.
I really hope so, think it was my best Zyra game to date haha, I'll wait and see if any tech guys comment but apart from that I'll prob need to send a ticket.
Fönikku (EUW)
: Not sure if this helps or not, but did you try to download the beta client separately, launch the updates from there and access legacy (if you like) from the new one?
Yes and no, when clicking the prompt to download after installing the client, it opens up a window in browser, but for whatever reason this gives the download for the old client. So I've tried yes, but haven't actually got to it, if you get me lol...
: Why doesn't Fiora's W trigger the stun part when Kennen stuns you? Is this intended or a bug?
I would say at current, it is working as intended. Think of it like this: Kennen Q has 2 effects; Q hits for X damage Then; If Q hit was successful, apply passive stack for mark of the storm. It's near instantaneous, but it's definitely how it works. However Fiora W introduces a foreign _counter _ to the process: Thundering Shuriken cast Fiora Riposte parries spell hit before spell resolves Thundering Shuriken hit was unresolved Does not apply damage Does not apply mark of the storm You're completely cancelling out the spell, so it's not going to do anything to you.

: I'm not sure as to how lolskill caculates their rating for players, but I could imagen that it's done purely due to ranked stats. And Riot has completely different MMR sets for rankeds and normals. The reason for this is simple, because people tend to play different in normal games, a lot less serious. So matching a Plat player that doesn't takes normals serious at all with a plat player that tries to win just as much in normals as he does in rankeds makes little sense, as latter obviously will outperform. Instead they just calculate a different MMR for normals, so the one palying casual in normals will get matched against people on his casual-level. And kinda the same reasoning can be applied as to why those enemy Diamond Players have a low MMR in normals, and therefore got matched like this.
The ratings there are individual "champ skill" ratings, I'm just trying to highlight the rank differences. Whilst it's true normals are generally a more laid back mode, they could at least try and keep matches as close as possible. It didn't happen this time, but getting put up against someone that much higher only to get absolutely stomped into the dirt puts a real downer on your game.

Because to me it seems like the only thing that's adding stress to the game comes from looking up the ranks you'll play with. - high ranked enemies -> tilt - low ranked teammates -> tilt There is actually not a single positive aspect about looking up ranks in my opinion.

: > Ironically we won, but that's not the point But it is. The matchmaking system matches up players so that both teams have roughly the same chance of winning. Don't blindly look at 3rd party sites and think that their number is accurate, because they're not.
I actually only checked this site right at the end of the match, I knew from the get go Draven was far higher than I am, but I wanted to see just how much. When you play a role too much you can easily tell when someone far surpasses you in skill, and despite going negative he was definitely the better ADC, but I always had thresh backing me up. No, for a while Riot were really against third party things like skin overrides or announcer overrides but they eventually "allowed" it at the players discretion, I'm sure there was a red post on it a while ago but I cba finding it lol.
Adrenalotr (EUNE)
: Aside from your MMR and the Diamond players' MMR, there's also the premade situation to consider. A Diamond might queue up for normals with his Bronze MMR friends, and they'll average somewhere in the middle. Somewhere in low Gold, possibly. A Silver 3 player may well have roughly the same skill as a low Gold player, with things like number of games played, flexibility, luck, and behavior affecting their actual ranks and their MMR. I'd much rather have the MMR visible, even if it was just for a short experiment for a month or so, just so we could have a bit more insight into the system.
I have to say that it's not visible in normals because it's nonexistant. I may just seem salty from losing to these higher ups, but I've obviously been winning against them too otherwise I'd still have all my 35 wins to do... > That's another thing, why am i getting stuck with them and not against bronze probationaries? Quote from a previous comment I've stated. If my case is true, why doesn't the opposite work?
: The point isnt your MMR beeing too high, i guess its rather die diamonds not having played too many draft pick matches and therefor having a low MMR.
And it can't just match me up with the millions of other silvers or bronze players who have already played their draft probationary? After the amount of games I've been matched against plat's, diamonds and golds, there is no way on this earth that there could be any MMR in place. That's another thing, why am i getting stuck with them and not against bronze probationaries? Just give me challenger upgrade now Rito and I'll be happy -.-'
: Draft games have an independent MMR. So you will have to play a few games until you are ranked properly (very much like the placement matches in ranked).
If that is the case then I clearly shouldn't be silver 3! After about 30 games in draft mode it's still occurring with no sign of stopping If there is MMR, it's clearly very lax in is definition of skill levels and broad in it's determination of skill matchups
