: I think this is completely understandable, this will have a knock on effect of other companies doing this. However, I really don't understand not keeping RP prices the same and upping the prices? The 975 RP for £5 is so convenient. So up that to like £6.50 or whatever? Instead of us paying double to have extra RP. The other changes are completely fine. It's just the 975 RP purchase is so nice to just by a 6300 IP champ outright. That's the only revision I think you guys need to make. Let's keep the 975 RP purchasable. Let's all be friends.
Hey there Baitkin, This ones a bit of a complicated answer that takes a bit of explaining. I'm gonna copy and paste a response to a similar question, and a response that deals specifically with the 975 RP tier, but let me know if that doesn't answer your question or you have further concerns. 1. "Why don't you increase the cost in £'s of the different tiers instead of reducing the amount of RP" - We always strive to have a variety of payment options in our store, so that players can spend their money how they like. Many of these payment methods rely upon 3rd parties outside Riot, and for many of them their transactions are hard locked to set £ values (Paysafe cards for instance are printed with £ value on them rather than an RP value). In order for us to change the £ to a non-standard value (instead of the standard 5, 10, 15, etc.) we would have to either remove those payment methods or convince our partners to overhaul their entire systems, potentially leaving people who don't have access to the more common purchase methods unable to purchase RP for an extended period. These are the same sort of partner restrictions that mean we can only have 6 RP tiers for purchase. 2. "Why is it now 10 pounds to get enough RP for a 975 skin, that's double the old 975 price point?" - So this one is a bit trickier. We created the £5 = 975 tier when we reduced the price of RP in the UK in 2015 (before that £5 = 840 RP), but in many of our other regions the "roughly 5 pounds" price tier gets you less than 975. So we looked at those regions to determine how often people purchase the "roughly £5" and "roughly £2.5" tiers (especially in combination), and almost nobody utilized the ~£2.5 tier anyway even though that was technically the cheapest way to acquire a 975 skin. Since people were not utilizing that tier, we saw a way to make it easier for players to get their full bonus RP and have an easier transaction experience for those that wanted to buy something from the 1820 price point and help ease the larger jump from £10 to £20, with the introduction of the £15 tier. It is also worth noting that the £5 is actually the least reduced tier, if we reduced it by 20% then it would have been 780 RP, so we bumped it up to 790 so you'd have access to the 790 tier of champs without additional purchases. We understand this is one of those cases where the answer isn't clear cut, but we're trying to make the best decision for players we can based on our data, while still maintaining RP parity across our regions. This is something we are gonna actively monitor, and if it doesn't work out we are always open to change, we want to have price points that make the most sense for players just as much as you guys do. I usually don't like copy and pasting stuff, but I hope you understand considering the length of the posts. Let me know if there's anything I can clear up.
: > I know that price increases are never a fun experience, but they are necessary to ensure that we can keep providing and developing LoL, for free, for years to come. I'm sorry I cant stop laughing at how thick u must all think we are. for free? League is a free game yes, to play that's it everything every little detail in this game is expensive and NOT free, but if u want to talk about free look at Blizzard where Heroes literally gives u everything for free, there is of course the special skins and mounts to pay to get money into the game but every single item in the game is essentially easy to get from loots, free! That's true free. And before u go on about "they have other games to give them income" why aren't you doing the same? Oh yeah you want to be called Riot Game(s) and never make an other game.
Hi there Double Sixes, Unless I'm forgetting something, the only content that you can't get for free by playing are the IP and XP Boosts, the limited edition skins that are no longer available (but you can't purchase those either), event specific content/borders (if you werent playing at the time), and the fist bump ward skin. Everything else is available to players either through Hextech chest loot or IP purchase. While I'll admit some stuff takes longer to get or a bit of luck if you are looking for something in particular, but the vast majority of stuff can be acquired for free. Also, we actually are currently working towards putting the "s" in Riot Games. I can't talk about any details, but I can assure you that there are Rioters hard at work towards earning that plural-ness. Let me know if there's anything I can clear up further.

: I understand the change. However when the pound had an exchange rate of around 1.7 for a year between 2014-2015. There was no change for our benefit (the exchange rate before that was around 1.5-1.6) now it's dropped to 1.3 you introduce a change? If we use 1.5 as the middle and where it should be. When the same increase happen no change occurred. And now that their has been a decrease there is a change? Also of you notice the trend. The pound has been rising since early 2017. And projections show an increase. So I understand the change but can't really agree with it. If your unwilling to give more rp per £ when the £ is strong but are willing to give less when its weak ?
Hey there, just wanted to clear something up real quick. We actually did lower the price of RP in 2015 when the £ was strong. Before 2015 £5 got you 860 RP I believe, and after the shift we bumped it to £5 = 975 RP. RP price changes aren't a one-way street, if currencies are strong and that throws RP parity out of whack, we'll decrease the price of RP just the same.

: Hello, > Last June, the UK voted to leave the European Union, triggering a drop in the value of the pound relative to other global currencies, particularly the US dollar Yes, last June the UK voted to leave the European Union, _however_ Article 50 was not triggered until the end of March 2017. In the last few months, since Article 50 was triggered, the pound has been climbing back up: |-------|¦---July---2014-|¦---June---2015-|¦---Aug---2016-|¦---Jan----2017-|¦----June---2017-|¦ |- |USD|¦1|¦1|¦1|¦1|¦1|¦ |GBP|¦0.58|¦0.63|¦0.74|¦0.83|¦0.77|¦ [Source](www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=USD&to=GBP&view=5Y) * July 2014 to Jun 2015: drop in value of pound by 8.26% * Jun 2015 to Aug 2016: drop in value of pound by 16.06% * Aug 2016 to Jan 2017: drop in value of pound by 11.47% * Jan 2017 to Jun 2017: increase in value of pound by 7.5% * Article 50 triggered to July 2017: increase in value of pound by 3.82% When Brexit was announced there was a drop in the value of the pound by 11%, however the information from previous years show that the pound was already dropping by noticeable percentages since 2013. In fact, since the drop June 2016 to July 4th 2017 there is an increase in the value of the pound by 3.97%. [Source](www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=USD&to=GBP) So Riot were able to deal with a huge loss of profit in between 2014 and up to now in January 2017, with an increase in the amount of RP we got for our money in 2015 by 5% but as the pound start to regain its strengths, with its value (although slightly) increasing, Riot suddenly decide to increase their prices, by lowering the amount of RP we get to the point where there is a 19% **decrease** in the amount of RP we are getting for the same price. Since Riot did not take this as a problem in the past, even when there were larger drops in the value of the pound than there are now, it honestly seems like an act of greed, hidden behind an excuse not backed up with evidence. *** > Why do it now? Why not last year? The value of currencies goes up and down, so we wanted to leave it for a while to make sure the change was sticking. At this point it's been more than a year and recent fluctuations have been fairly minimal, so we think the time is right to make a change. The value of the pound has been dropping for years, a sudden increase is not going to be large, so those “recent fluctuations being minimal” are likely the result of the increase we are seeing. Besides, like I mentioned above, if you were able to cope over the last few years with a constant drop, why the sudden need to change things whilst the value of the pound is slowly improving. It seems like someone at Riot HQ went “There was an 11% decrease in the value of the pound when the UK voted to leave, we will just pretend there was no decrease in the GBP value before this as the price is slowly rising again, meaning if we increase our prices, when it rises again we’ll get more dollars to the pound meaning more money.” Unless the company is turning over large losses now from not managing this in the past, I don’t see any other reason than greed. *** > When we started looking at the best way to adjust pricing to be fair to players, we realised that the old £2.50 price point for RP was being used by very few people. Over 97% of UK player spending this year has been for £5 or more. This is due to the fairly obvious reason that 975RP was the cost of a skin, with the reduction of the amount of RP we are getting, the requirement for the £2.50 one will go up, If I can save £2.50 off of RP every time I purchase it then I don't care if I have to do two transactions, it doesn't take that much longer, it isn't even a large inconvenience. Removing the £2.50 because it was not used as much when it wasn't required as much is not a valid excuse to remove it at the time it is going to be needed. Riot are simply forcing us to spend more. *** A positive note though, I do like the addition of the £15 option and I think that’s my rant done. Kjono1
Hey there Kjono1, I appreciate you doing the research and taking the time to write-out this post. Let me try to address some of your concerns. EDIT: Oops, I didn't see FeistyJinx's response, I'll leave it up as I hate to delete something this long after I typed it all lol, and it may be able to give a little more context. 1. "With the 975 tier gone, people would use the £2.50 option to get as close to 975 as possible, so you shoudn't remove it" - This is something we talked about internally and are gonna be monitoring very closely. I've written a response to a very similar question above so i'll copy it here, and hopefully it can explain our thought process and restrictions. For context it's important to understand that with several of our purchasing options, our third party payment partner locks us to only having 6 price tiers: We created the £5 = 975 tier when we reduced the price of RP in the UK in 2015 (before that £5 = 840 RP), but in many of our other regions the "roughly 5 pounds" price tier gets you less than 975. (I hate copying and pasting responses, but that one is so long I'm hoping you'll give me a pass lol) 2. "The 20% increase doesn't match the fall of the pound" - So this one is a bit more complicated. While the shift in currency exchange rates over time was definitely the primary metric we used to determine the change, it certainly wasn't the only metric. We looked at a ton of other factors too like interest rates, inflation, competition, costs, investment into League of Legends, etc. when determining all of our changes. It's also important to understand the time scales we are looking at when determining these changes. Our 2015 price change looked at the shift of pound values since the previous pseudo-price adjustments (the introduction of the 750 RP and 1350 RP price tiers in April 2013 I believe), and this price change looked at everything all the way back (and slightly beyond) that 2015 price change. Why do we wait so long in between making corrections, and why were we willing to absorb potential losses that come along with that long term scope? Well, because we know how painful price adjustments are for players. I, like most other Rioters, joined the gaming industry because we like making people happy and lets face it, nobody is gonna be celebrating a price increase, but we had to make the tough decision to go through this pain now so that we can guarantee we will be able to keep providing and improving LoL (and even create new ways to bring joy to players outside of LoL) far into the future. I hope this addressed some of your concerns, but let me know if you have any questions and I will try to follow up (as you can imagine things are quite busy lol).
: @Riot please just read this and get some sense into your heads. This is exactly why the price changes are nothing more than coporate greedy and lust for more money from a change in the political world that doesnt effect the gaming industry in the slightest. You dont see the price of other companies in game purchases going up do you? This'll lose you more customers than anything youve ever done before.
Hey there, I addressed many of Kjono1's concerns in my other posts, but I will respond to him now as I can see he put a lot of thought into his post. Just wanted to take a quick aside and say that if you check at the start of this year, many gaming companies increased their prices for £ transactions (e.g.- a 25% price increase across the board for everything in the apple app store). Like all gaming companies, our costs are effected by shifts in real world currencies and economies just as much as any other business that provides a service, and as such we have to shift and change with the times as well. I know that price increases are never a fun experience, but they are necessary to ensure that we can keep providing and developing LoL, for free, for years to come.
Dr Nay (EUW)
: The exchange difference between now and this time last year is less than 10% I'm no sure how you got the 20% but id sure like to know?
Hey there, we've been looking at this much longer than just 1 year. We look at moving averages as far back as our previous price adjustment in 2015, when we made RP cheaper because the pound was very strong. The big drop in the pound hit in January 2016, and we chose to wait as long as we could to see where things would stabilize. This long term term drop in value was the primary motivator, but we also looked at interest rates, inflation, competition, costs, investment into League of Legends, and more when determining the 20% increase. I hope that provides a little more insight, but let me know if you have any questions.
Octavia (EUW)
: Apart from which the pound has rebounded And I'll wait for the day they reduce prices due to a strong pound. Fat %%%%ing chance that will ever happen. also hi you are Scootaloo before right?
Hey there Octavia, If you look at the rates from the last time we restored parity by shifting RP prices in 2015, the pound is down quite significantly (the decrease really kicks off in Jan 2016). I can understand that checking the YTD graph puts the pound at roughly the same level as July last year, but we've been watching this for much longer and chose to wait an few extra months to see where things would stabilize (if you look back at the start of this year, many companies shifted their prices then). This combined with other factors like interest rates, inflation, costs, investment into LoL Development, etc. was how we came to our price adjustment level. Coincidentally, in that price adjustment in 2015, we actually did reduce the price of RP due to the strength of the pound, and are committed to do so in the future if that is what is required to restore RP parity across our markets.
: I'm so sorry you're having to deal with these responses, stay strong <3
I totally understand that price increases are never gonna be met with cheers and celebration. For me it's more about helping people understand why we made this choice and getting their feedback.
: He's hoping you got the meme since youre basically doing what toblerone did. They decreased the amount of material you get whilst keeping the same prices. This is pathetic as a change.
I must admit I've never been a chocolate guy, so I was unaware that Toblerone had changed (more of a wine gums guy). But yes, the shift in the value of the pound is an issue that many companies are having to address. The majority of them changed their prices at the start of this year, but we decided to wait a bit longer just to see if things might recover. We understand that a price increase is never a cause for celebration, but it was important for us to insure that players across all of the Riot regions had as close to the same experience when it comes to what they can get for their RP as possible.
: For the same amount of RP at the £50 mark, someone from the UK pays the equivalent of an extra £6 compared to what a continental European pays. Seems like a fair alignment.
When we talk about RP parity across regions, we're talking about exchange rates in the very long term (1.5 years this time to see where things would roughly stabilize). As currency exchange rates naturally shift over shorter term periods there will be small discrepancies that open up and changes what currency gets you get the most "bang for your buck" We have to strike a balance between changing the price of RP based on exchange rates to achieve closer parity, and the amount of pain that comes each time prices are shifted. This is something we can always get better and we want to hear from players on how we can make it better.
daveeee (EUW)
: Coxy, I don't think people can really complain or mind about the price rise. However, they will have every right to complain if the prices aren't reversed once things correct. UK consumers are justifiably cynical about this, particular given they way they are treated by, for example, energy companies. I think removing the £2.50 price point will annoy people too... buying one skin from a position of 0 RP has now effectively doubled in price.
We have dropped the price of RP when the pound was strong in the past (2015 price adjustment), and are committed to doing so in the future. We want to keep RP parity across regions, and to do so we monitor those exchange rates in the very long term (we waited 1.5 years to make sure that the rate wouldn't rebound this time). If the value of the pound goes up and stays up in the long term, that throws the RP parity out of whack in the opposite direction and we would reduce the price of RP to restore parity.
LuniChingu (EUNE)
: Just need to understand, which regions get effected by this change?
This will only affect EUW regions that pay via pounds sterling. This usually means the United Kingdom.
Ursis (EUW)
: The worst thing about this is not being able to buy skins for the exact amount. Currently if you want a 975 skin (the most common skin price), you pay £5. If you want a 1350 skin, you pay £2.50 and £5 for 1450 RP, if you want a 1820 skin, you pay £10 for 2075. If they wanted to raise the price of the RP, raise the price of the RP and not ruin the RP numbers. With this change if you want a 975 skin, you have to pay **DOUBLE** the amount (£10), and have 675 left over. This is ridiculous. Keep the RP values the same and increase the cost of RP, do not touch the RP values.
Hey there enV, so this is probably better addressed as 2 separate but related issues. I'm gonna try to give the full context, so be prepared for a wall of text. I hope this clears some of this up, but let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. It's really important to me that players understands the reasons behind what we're doing and that they know that we are listening to their feedback very closely.

That's a pretty nice picture of Gbay99! **_(secretly hopes he got the meme right)_**
: The pound has been poor against the dollar from the October to April period but has seen a significant recovery this summer. This is a naked money grab from Riot to make up some extra profits at the cost of their UK player base. Pound vs dollar at close on 4th July 2016 **1.328** Pound vs dollar at close on 4th July 2017 **1.295** One pound is worth 97.5% of what it was worth this time last year against the dollar. Riot is gambling that the pound is going to move a lot lower than it is at present and they're asking us to pay for it. Exchange rate info taken from x-rates.com
Hey there Behemoth Rising! Yup those values are correct, but they are shorter term values than what we looked at, let me explain: We've actually been looking at this and hoping that the sterling rate would recover for more than a year and a half. Pre-Brexit £ values started to fall in January 2016, and when we are looking at exchange values we're looking at long term moving averages. When making this choice we looked at all of the values since our last price adjustment in March 2015, when we lowered the price of RP in £'s, and how they changed over long term periods. I hope that clears up some of your concerns.
: I probably didn't get picked so no info :') but if we did where would the info be or would it get sent to us??
Hi there, I'm actually updating the post now! After contacting a few cosplayers we realized that we were gonna have a lot of timing conflicts if we tried to book everything all at once. So the Photographer and Videography team are reaching out to cosplayers as we speak, trying to find timings that work. Most people are being contacted via their linked pages, as they are likely more frequently checked than boards, but cosplayers without a linked page would be contacted here in advance, or at the meetups on the three days! Since I saw that you don't have a photo or linked page I'd suggest attending the meet as we will be filming and photographing there as well!

So the current roles one offer for the London office can be found here: [https://www.riotgames.com/careers/?offices=22781&depts=](https://www.riotgames.com/careers/?offices=22781&depts=) To be fair though, many Rioters trained in something entirely different from what they do now. I'm sorry you don't enjoy the new client as much, I hope with time you will learn to like it as you get used to it and we add on more cool stuff. As a side note, you could buy skins in champ select in the old client before the introduction of new champ select, but you cannot buy them in champ select at all in the new client (outside or ARAM boosts). We're striving to build a client that we can improve and grow in the future, as LoL improves and grows; the AIR client was not capable of much more advancement. As for your performance issues I would submit a ticket here: https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/requests/new They have much more technical expertise than I do

So this sounds like it's not related to the new client. It may be that when we updated a bunch of visual effects this patch that those are causing lag spike for you. Can you try lowering your in-game settings or seeing if you have the same lag in practice mode?

This sounds a lot like a bug some people are experiencing with the new client, our client team is working on delivering a fix as soon as possible, and we will sticky an update in the client discussion board. I'm sorry i couldnt be more helpful.

Oops, sorry I didn't see that. You answer a bunch of these and things can start to blue together a bit. It's very odd that you are still experiencing issues while in game with the client closed. We haven't changed the in-game stuff, so with the client offline it should run the same as normal. It's possible that there are maybe some very taxing champs or skins in the game? : Thanks, but it doesn´t work too
Hmm, do you have any screenshots?
: ERROR LEAGUE CLIENT PLEASE HELP
Tracked down another instance of that specific error and it looks like it might be something to do with the combo of your account permissions and the new install. I'd go through our [permissions guide](https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/204134104-Setting-up-your-Permissions) and make sure thats all setup and then give yourself a fresh install through the repair tool. Let me know if that works for you?

: Old client deleted?
Hey there, Moving to the new client and retiring the old AIR client was a tough choice for us, but there were a lot of big reasons we chose to move forward with only 1 client. You can check out some of the reasons why in this [article from the devs](http://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/2016/12/ask-riot-the-future-of-the-client-update/). I would also recommend turning on low-spec mode and the option to have the client close while in game. Here's a [GIF showing how](https://gyazo.com/58627ca56d7630c8622462b54de4325e), although from your description I think you may have 1 or more checked already.
: The Spiral Downwards That is MMR
Checked your match history, and I can totally understand how frustrating a 6 game lose streak can be, but because of how matchmaking works you have a roughly 2% chance of any set of 6 consecutive games being losses. It's important to keep your cool and understand that mmr always gets more accurate the more you play. Also a calm demeanor prevents some losses, like the first of the 6 losses which looks like it was a win if you had been able to rejoin the game. Those bronze players might be in the same kind of situation you find yourself in. Their division might not accurately represent their skill/MMR.

: 4th May LoL client update
Hey there, Looks like something may be a bit messed up with your client download as I don't see any login issues on our end. I'd go ahead and run the [Hextech Repair Tool](https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/224826367-Automated-Troubleshooting-Hextech-Repair-Tool), and see if that fixes the login issues.
: I have packet loss in the new client!! please help
Hey there, So the in-game stuff is unchanged by the new client, but the client keeps itself open in the background of games which can cause issues on some machines. I'd recommend turning on low-spec mode and ticking the box for closing down the client while in game. [Here's a GIF showing how](https://gyazo.com/58627ca56d7630c8622462b54de4325e).

: Launcher update problem.
Hey there, I'd try running the [Hextech Repair Tool](https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/224826367-Automated-Troubleshooting-Hextech-Repair-Tool) and see if that sorts everything out for you.

: The new client causes in game FPS stutter / lag, closing client doesn't help
Hey there, it's actually a super easy fix. I'd turn on low-spec mode and tick the option to close the client while you're in game. [Here's a GIF showing how](https://gyazo.com/58627ca56d7630c8622462b54de4325e). That should clear everything up, but you might have to wait slightly longer for the post -game screen.
: its says in the post that the Legacy Client would still work after the Beta ends but it won't be updated. LIARS
I don't believe we've ever said that. Do you have a link?
: and my pc has a gx 1060 3 gb , an i5-7400 and 16 gb ram.
Yeah so this sounds similar to a bug we've been hearing from a small group of players. The client team is looking to push a fix ASAP. In the meantime I'd recommend running the[ Hextech Repair Tool](https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/224826367-Automated-Troubleshooting-Hextech-Repair-Tool) to see if that helps clear things up.
: New client all black, punished for 5 games.
Hey there, So I'd turn on low-spec mode in the new client just to see if that's involved in any way. [Here's a gif showing how](https://gyazo.com/58627ca56d7630c8622462b54de4325e). If that doesn't work, we have recieved reports of a bug effecting people in a similar way to what you are describing. The client team is working to get a fix out ASAP, and there should be an update in the Client Discussion when the fix goes live.

: Lol is not okay
Hey there, you're fine. It's likely that the entire game got disconnected, and as such the game will not have a win or a loss conclusion. If it doesn't show up in your match history in the next couple hours then the game just didn't register.
: new client is not launching
Hey there! I'd recommend running the [Hextech Repair Tool ](https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/224826367-Automated-Troubleshooting-Hextech-Repair-Tool) and see if that clears things up. Let me know if that doesn't work and I can try to do some more digging.
: I cannot start League of Legends the Client crashed every time i try to start the game can aynone explain me why this happen and how can i solve this bug because i will Play this beautiful game again D;
I'd recommend running the Hextech Repair Tool. It sounds like something got messed up with the install or where the new files got placed, so the repair tool will likely help clean all that stuff up. Once you get it running I'd recommend enabling the low-spec mode as well.
: Any way of playing in the Legacy Client again?
Hanging the middle of the logo seems like it would be pretty ineffective. That's basically the stomach of the logo right? It seems like it would just be uncomfortable for the new client more than anything. For real though we give some more context for why we're retiring the [old client here](http://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/2016/12/ask-riot-the-future-of-the-client-update/).
: Cant update or start new client beacuse of some zpipe_inf cant be located in folder
I'd recommend running the [Hextech Repair Tool](https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/224826367-Automated-Troubleshooting-Hextech-Repair-Tool), and making sure you're running from an administrator account. Let me know if that doesn't work and we'll try something else.
