With someone of my skill level it's quite fair :D
: looking for 3 people for clash - EUW
I'm in and I'm terrible, but I'm planning to win this anyway!
: What do you mean by ''You bump in a Rioter''. Like start talking to someone who works at Riot at an event irl?
That or like the other day someone recognized me while I was shopping for ice cream :D
: (Fake?) Riot employee threatening me ingame
So the correct procedure, like stated by the other is to write a ticket to player support -> https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us Also impersonating a Rioter is a big no no, I don't understand why people try to do it... and as usual we don't state the actions taken on an account. On a completely separated and unrelated note to this topic, I just heard that the button on the tool that punishes players for a period of time is working perfectly as usual, just in case anybody is wondering.
: Hah, I had sauerkraut today! :P
Lucky you, it's really hard to find good sauerkraut in Ireland!

EmeraldSatyr told me it's a cabbage roll. I love cabbage. Now I want sauerkraut.

: Pirates of the Caribbean Fans, anyone agree? Garen vs Darius Analogy.
I'm huge fan of Pirates of the Caribbean and I think they took a lot of inspiration from the Monkey Island series. Funny enough, since Monkey Island was inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland... Anyway more pirates games please :D

: I'm slightly curious here. Would it be harder to detect toxicity in Korea because it's a different language system? I heard that toxicity is a huge problem in the Korean server. Considering Riot games is stationed in the USA I'd imagine the system was made based on English(i think it can punish in other languages, but it's still the same alphabet). I don't speak Korean, as far as I know, they have a letter for every word similar to every other Asian language. I mean the system isn't exactly designed with that kind of language in mind. Cowsep recently had some issues with league and in one of the videos he mentioned about a possible way to circumvent the system.
I'm not part of the team so I can't say for sure, but everything that we do should be design from the start with localization in mind, no matter if it is made in the US or anywhere else. Considering how many players around the world are not using the english alphabet you don't want to get too deep into development and then have to course correct...

Happy birthday Syl3ns3! Not a great present I guess, but I'm sending you positive vibes through the internet :D

Maybe we had different experiences, every time I met one of them it was one of the nicest, most compentent people around...

: "just a bad game"
Hey Arammus, That is Korean player so I spoke with one of our guys in PS and he's reaching out to the Korean Player Behavior team to make sure that they investigate the case. If something like that happens to any of us as usual the best way to give feedback is through the report system at the end of match (that machine learning likes data) and in extremely cases writing a ticket to player support. Cheers!

: For actual spider handling advice (not Elise related sadly) your two best options are to get a friend to remove them for you, or invest in a long range spider catcher. They're available on Amazon and are fairly cheap and let you keep the creepies at, like, double arms length, snatch em', and then just toss them outside.

They're available on Amazon and are fairly cheap and let you keep the creepies at, like, double arms length, snatch em', and then just toss them outside. A friend was suggesting one of these spider catcher just last night. I tend to go pretty overkill using all my spells on single spider and then feeling bad for disintegrating that thing.

: Have you guys made any friends off league?
I made some very good friends during events, especially the small ones... You start looking at a match on screen and you end up having dinner with all randoms all chicken wings!
: Yeah, defenetly! Do you know where i can find a list of upcomming events?
So that's where things get a bit more complicated, the local offices around Europe are more active in their countries and usually they post their events in their local languages pages. For all the other countries we still need to figure out how to do events in a meaningful and scalable way...
: if the occasion comes up do i have to ask him nicely or it will just drop in my account if he wants to?
I usually carry one with me in my backpack so just ask :D

: Since it's RG exclusive you need to find a Riot employee, kidnap him and tie him up in the abandoned warehouse untill he gives you free code for that ward. Works every time. ######Note that I do not encourage any illegal activities. Well, at least most of them. Don't ban me :C
I am pretty sure that Rioters would be happy to give the ward skin without the kidnapping :D

: How to get Riot ward?
Usually if you bump in a Rioter at an event they have one with them :)
: Too bad you're silver, otherwise I'd have asked to duo w/ you xd
Not for long (famous last worlds)
Wen294 (EUW)
: I don't know man, it just never works out. I've tried it a bunch of times. Both getting a duo partner and setting up a ranked team back in the day. It just never kicked off. Maybe play like 1 or 2 normals together. At some point in time 1 ranked game and then it dies out again.
I know the feeling, it happened to us as well, you have a positive score, with a the majority of wins but then you just need a couple of ranked going south and then you stop playing together. it's probably different if you are friends already, new friends or if if we all have different expectation. Getting better takes time and practice, but not everybody has the same patience...
: I'm a working person and don't know anyone who plays League irl and find it quite hard to find "friends" online sine I feel really awkward and anxious that I might seem too weird , make other person uncomfortable , make the person play with me and have a bad game causing the person to lose. It's just overall really hard and stresful (at least for me). I really like people tho and hope to one day meet someone with sufficent chill and understanding so I won't have to worry about stuff like that.
Sometimes I wonder if it's just the case of two people, that meet every day, but since they never mention League they never know that they are logged in at the same time... Kinda like, you leave in a building at the 4th floor and there is somebody at the 2nd that play leagues all the time and you never knew! Also, back in the 90s I remember how "weird" we were playing games, how they were telling us that gaming was making us anti-social or something like that... Well they were wrong, you go to places like Dreamhack or Gamescom and you see kids and grown ups playing together and having fun... Event today there is still people telling me "oh you play games for work?", but they are fewer and fewer :D
Wen294 (EUW)
: Well it usually depends on whether you have friends or not. If so then duo, if not then solo. And then once every now and then riot %%%%s you over by handing out party missions.
I'm trying to think at a way to word it the best way possible, but I'm failing at it, so I'll just ask cause I would really like to understand this more. With so many players in EU, how does it happen that someone can't find a duo partner? I mean, if you are in school, there are probably some players in your school, if you are in university it's even easier and if you are a grandpa like myself there are things like boards or facebook groups where we can find people to play with... I mean we already have one thing in common, we all like to play league... At the same time, is there something here that I'm missing? Cause maybe it's a personality thing or maybe nowadays is it harder to make connections than it used to be?

Definitely you can, but if at least one person in your team is familiar with your play style it's a clear advantage that you can use. One of the biggest difficulties that I have in the solo Q is to share knowledge with random people on how I prefer to play, cautious in laning phase and more aggressive late, while at the same time I tend to go a bit tunnel vision with some champions and when I play with a duo partner she's usually the one calling me out when I see red...

: Assassins Creed is garbage.
The fact that you may not like it doesn't mean it's garbage. I haven't played the last one, but a lot of people told me that Origins is great. I personally think it's a great franchise and AC4 showed the passion that the team put in the game.
: Skull and bones looks promising!
It does, but I still want the full experience, the finding the treasures, the storytelling, a pirate ship fight simulator is not the fantasy that I'm looking for. Where is my Grog?
: If you still havent noticed.Assassins Creed 4 is free!
It's a great game. I grow up with Monkey Island, I loved Sid Meier's' Pirate and I was waiting for years for a proper pirate game and AC4 delivered. I used to get on my ship and just sail to the infinity listening to my fellow pirates singing. I wish Microsoft would have gone for a more realistic spin for Sea of Thieves...

: I mean allow players to disable their chat key, or one of you guys taking away someones ability to type in chat if he requested it because he knows he is/mightbecome toxic. and so in order to prevent the ruining of other players experience and to protect his own account he chooses to disable/takeaway/askforremoval of his ability to talk.
I personally disagree with that. I think if somebody can't behave and can't control the things that he or she types should take a big step back and analyze the problem. Cause that may be part of a bigger issue, it's like those people that suffer from road rage, they need treatment to get out of it. At the same time, this is a game with rules, you can't control what you type? Well maybe it's time to take a break and go play something else, something that doesn't make you tilt...
Sympton (EUW)
: Yeah but please please reconsider giving people a permanent mute should they request it themselves.
Rismosch (EUW)
: You think I don't understand this, do you? Let me rephrase what you just said: > You think too easily.. the whole point is you SHOULDNT commit crime. > People should simply be grown up and have respect for others and don't offend their rights. > We shouldnt have to put everyone in jail and ruin their rest of their lifes just because some insane persone tried to murder someone. People are stupid, and no system in the entire world will ever fix this. If you think you can, go ahead. Go to Riot headquarters and convince them of a system you make up, that solves aaaaall problems. You will fail, miserably. Toxicity is something no one can fix. You can improve it, but you can't get rid of it. And the less toxicity there is, the more money and resources you need to put in just to improve it by a little bit more. So the best option is to ignore the problem and live with it's consquenzes. Because this is the most efficiant and reliable way to deal with it. But you could also not mute people and get offended by it. It's your choice. It's your choice that you got offended and it's your choice that you don't like it.
People are not stupid, the majority of people are actually nice, sometimes they just do stupid things, I agree, but it's a complex society we can default on saying that people are stupid and do nothing. I believe that education is a tool that we can use to get out of that space... You can't get rid of unsportsmanlike behavior entirely, but we can definitely do more together. Just have clarity on what is good behavior and not (saying gg ez is not sportsmanlike for me for example) could help.

I agree that people should be a lot more friendly and stop with the useless flame, but saying gg ez is not even close to flame. In my opinion is just a little banter that happens in every sport (check this guy out Zlatan Ibrahimovic) or look at Lcs when they do the pre interviews, when all the players getting interview say oo double lift is noob bot is ez win, no one gets upsets cause they know its just banter not flame. The point people get upset over everything (except the fact that they have 0 skill ) so they look at whatever reason to get revenge for losing. Just like in another post someone wants to report people for writing "?" in all chat after they fail something. I mean come on... really?
I don't know, I think we should not take example from football when we are talking about sportsmanship behavior. Rubbing a victory in somebody's face just feel very immature to me. You are the best player, behave like one.

: Winning the game doesn't mean you are allowed to be unsportsmanlike towards your opponent
Crecent Crest, you are totally right. I was actually talking about this last week with the Captain of the Irish Rugby team and it's easy to say "gg" and "well played" when we are winning, but when we are losing and losing hard it's when we need to step up and be sportsmanlike.
: Thought Riot's job was helping out people? Why do I only see you answering in such posts like this?
As Hansiman said in another thread, the best place to get help is on the support site: https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us Riot is a complex machine and rioters have a different jobs so personally I have no visibility on technical problems and definitely no clue no clue on how to solve most of them. Like I have limited knowledge on game mechanics or champion balancing, but hey if you want to talk about events, publishing, running or gaming in general please let me know!

Saibbo (EUW)
: It really depends on the GPU, unless your CPU already bottleneck the GPU or you have a a new mid to high-end GPU (GTX 9xx or 10xx) you shouldn't see that big bump of performance in just games (maybe 5-10 FPS increase but it really depends). Also right now the RAM prices are over the roof for some reason kinda like with the GPU prices with the mining of the bitcoins, and actually Ryzen CPU unlike Intel benefit having a fast speed RAM, so it could be worth to wait for the Ryzen 2 next year waiting good prices for the RAM, since both CPU and modo for AMD are rather cheap.
Definitely, I have a 980Ti and I know I can squeeze more out of it, especially for VR
Saibbo (EUW)
: I mean after Skylake 6th gen, the architecture of the CPU got to a point that they can't shrink anymore the processor (14 nm), and basically Coffee lake 8th gen is basically the 7th gen KabyLake but with different count of cores and with slightly higher frequency... just to compete against the AMD Ryzen cores count. Anyway you'll not see any gain on performance by just changing the CPU (unless your previous one was bottle-necking the GPU), really upgrading a Intel CPU right now isn't really that worth, Ryzen is far better honestly being even cheaper with a better stock cooler.. but then it depends on the GPU you pair with it. At the end of the story really even a old 2th gen Intel CPU is still good in my opinion if it's at least an i5, because really you don't gain much performance in games more than maybe few FPS if you don't change the GPU too. Unless you do stuff like rendering and stuff or if you want to go full ape blown all my money mode.
I still run a FX-8350 and I would like to move to Ryzen, but I can't justify the expense of new CPU, mobo and RAM for that increase in performance. Maybe Ryzen 2nd gen?
: WOW wait a minute... didn't riot show a video 2 or 3 years ago, showing a kid that was around 6 years old playing league in the office?
PEGI provides guidance for parents to help them decide what is suitable for their kids... I personally grow up ignoring PEGI ratings, but if I had a kid now I would probably use it to make informed decisions on what he/she should play. At the same time I would play some game myself and if I find them appropriate I would share it. For example "Gone Home" has a Pegi of 16, but I think an early teen would be able to enjoy it.
TTekkers (EUW)
: My prediction is that if you were to shuffle it slightly and have 18-24 as a single age group, that one would be about 80% of the people on league. As it is you'll probably get a similar spread, but smushed out a little bit into the 2 categories on either side. PS. The boards may also not be a particularly representative sample
> > PS. The boards may also not be a particularly representative sample I think you are spot on with this, I don't remember the numbers, but there are so many different ways to communicate around league... Facebook groups, twitter, reddit, boards... If I think at snapchat I would think that the majority of younger players would be there...
: why start at 12??? start at 8 pls... they are mor ethen you migh thought... I know many myself that started below 12..
League is Pegi 12 in EU so it shouldn't be played by gamers younger than 12

if you want reach out to Rioters in the US I suggest to post on the NA boards cause it's more likely to be seen there than here. Or you could try with that twitter thing that kids use nowadays :p But to keep the expectation in check, the guy must be superbusy and he probably gets tons of requests so maybe my advice is to start looking into other solutions ;)

: Does Riot still advertise league more towards guys? one intresting thing i faund in this paper was that majority of girls played with theyr boyfriends and i would guess they were introduced into the game throuth them too. The way i remember i got into the game was because the ad kept poping up too much for me so eventually i clicked and now im here, im guessing google identified me as a guy and just did the thing. Considering the stereotypes it would also make sense for Riot to do so. Or at least i'd imagine it would be easier for google to identify guys who would be intrested in league than girls.
That's actually a really good question and I don't know the answer, but I will look into it. It's definitely not my area of expertise, but it's interesting because I believe that a diverse community is a healthy community so I would not target just guys...

Of course im gonna be losing my shit if I know we have a female in the team who plays well as well.... More power to all the chicks playing! WE NEED MOAR GIRLS IN THE GAMING COMMUNITY!!!!!
There are already girls in the gaming community, I was reading recently that around 45% of the twitch viewers are female. Edit: And I'd like to add, maybe if we would create a more welcoming environment it would clearer for all of us.
