: >We are here to play a competitive game. We don't care about anything else but raising our skills and getting better and better. You might be... But you cannot deny that there is a very large portion of players that is simply in for the fun. Many of my friends hardly ever touch ranked modes and just enjoy the game for the fun of it. That is a significant portion of players. Millions of viewers on esports livestreams and well, even the collapse of servers during Clash is a great indicator that people do indeed care about the things I mentioned. --- >it doesnt matter what you do, the game is already decidied. People always say this, but you should know that this is not true. Why do you still lose games if this is true? You can simply dodge in Champion select if you realise the game is already over. Only play the free wins, free ticket to Diamond, Master, or even higher. ---- There are always matches you win no matter what, and there are always matches you lose no matter what. What matters are the games in between, that you can directly influence to a large degree. Can you tell me what exactly was better in this regard back then? I mean, why were games not decided immediately back in the day when remake and proper afk catchup mechanics did not exist? --- >There are less flamers now, but every flmaer became troll. Do you have any evidence for that? I do not remember the last time I saw an actual troll in any of my solo matches. What I do see a lot is people crying out loud and calling others "troll" or "inter" whenever they might have a disagreement. "I wanted to do Dragon but you didn't come? -> you're a troll" You should be very careful not to be that person. ---- >In season 2 everyone was a flmaer and yet after every game everyone was saying gg by MEANING IT That is the most BS rosy hindsight you can come up with. Do you seriously think flamers back then were some sort of honorable gangsters that shook hands after the game? Season two was the time when people still used to call things that went wrong or they didn't like ingame (or anywhere really) "gay". ---- You seriously need to be aware of your hindsight bias. Nostalgia exists for a reason, and I'm gonna argue that you're not old enough to be one of the people saying_ "back in my day everything was better"._ You have anecdotal evidence, you have great memories of the past, but I think your examples are insanely exaggerated.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think that this is the second season in which "Clash" is being tested, so the servers collapse is also a great indicator that Riot cannot seem to get things done, despite their effort and the time they had to do so. Meanwhile there WAS a good team system back in season 6 iirc where you could form teams with your friends and have lineups and play 5vs5 "with a full premade in a tactical and coordinated way" and Riot scrapped it for no apparent reason ... since the community is still passionate about having such a thing, why did they scrap it .?. What people are trying to tell you is that Riot is just going its own way and it doesn't really care what the playerbase wants .?. - Do you remember the majority asking for TFT .?. - Do you remember the majority asking for lootboxes .?. - Do you remember the majority asking for quests and achievements .?. (something that Riot, during the first years, kept saying that it was a very bad idea) - Do you remember the majority asking for the scrapping of IP, games not giving you IP and the introduction of infinite leveling that turned players into scrap-yard owners of champion shards ? I do **not** remember people asking for those things, but we got them anyway ... Instead what do people ask every day .?. - A transparent punishment system that is clear on which rules you broke - A reward system for the positive players (instead they even scrapped the idea of honoring someone from the opposing team) - Dealing with trolls efficiently - Balancing the game (instead we get almost every new champion with an in-built flash and CC for years ) And do we get that .?. Nope... So, yes, you are right, nostalgia is a bad argument to have, but so is ignoring the history of the game and its current reality ...
: > no gold after item completion. You still get 1000 gold with the item, before it completes. All the upgrades are for free. So let's look at relic shield. The upgrade costs were 450+950=1400. Sp you will only have less money than before the patch, if you got more than 2400 gold with relic shield. The other money items are similar to this. How often did you get 2400 gold with one support item? I don't think that it happened so often. And as you won't have to spend early money on your support item, you can spend your money on something else and get other items earlier.

: if you tell someone to kill themselves in a game you will recieve AT LEAST a chat ban, if not an outright account ban, and Riots reasoning is that 'telling someone to kill themselves' is ZERO TOLERANCE however if you add someone after a game, and tell them to kill themselves Riot will do SFA on the grounds that 'you could leave the private chat at any time' (as per a ticket i put in a couple months ago) maybe contradiction was the wrong word, inconsistent is probably better, although the Riot support guy i had the original ticket conversation DID contradict himself sort of... i opened the ticket because of the following after a game, when i loaded into the end of game screen, because my PC is a potato, all the other players had left. i added one of the people in the game, to offer them some advice, he accepted the friend request then immediatly told me to 1. kill myself 2. he hoped i would get either cancer or ebola 3. he wished death on my entire family i told the guy i would open a ticket and send them screenshots of the ticket. he laughed this off even going so far as to brag that he would not be punished. opened the ticket, the Rioter immediatly gave the excuse of 'its private chat i dont know what was said as i dont have access to those chats'. when i mentioned that i had sent a screenshot with the ticket, the excuse immediatly changed to 'its private chat, you could have left any time you wanted, i have to agree with the other guy, nothing will be done sorry...' when i asked him (the Rioter) to justify his position (ie. doing nothing to the person who used zero tolerance phrases) he explained that, because i had 'willingly' entered the chat, and that at any time, i could have left the chat, it was MY FAULT that the other guy flamed i then asked him to justify chat bans, in that, because the mute button exists, players are able to freely 'leave the conversation' by hitting the mute button, so that if they were flamed, surely its THEIR FAULT as they could have muted at any time somehow this wasnt a good 'excuse' for flaming he also marked the ticket as 'solved' and i never heard from him again THAT is where the contradiction/inconsistency lies

: Yes, all of the aforementioned can be faked if you have knowledge about it, it isn't something your average League player has or would ever invest time in learning (Let alone understanding), just like there are ways of detecting if they are fake. I would in fact wager it's a minority of players who even understand how to spoof your ID's making it a slim to no problem in the grand context of this debate. That said I do agree with the unique ID client, but considering it took 9 years to get something as logical as muting players in game, it's not likely that Riot would opt for a unique ID on their client (Let alone requiring a physical authenticator meaning your details would be bound to said client). I guess you could lable trolls / inters etc as idiots, assuming you mean players who fall behind for whatever reason, then start running it down expecting a different result, that does not however excuse them from the full extend of Riot's own CoC for their game.., it is still a deliberate action. If this is what you are arguing, why would you punish players for breaking a verbal rule.., it's just another set of idiots expecting something to change about the person they are attacking, this is literally the same. Either you follow your own guidelines or you don't, and currently to me it's clear that they don't.., not because it's hard to detect someone running it down etc, but because for some odd reason, they require 50+ games of that behavior, where as it only takes 1 game to remove an account from someone lashing out in the heat of the moment, perhaps due to the above described. The system you refer to is non-existing, I've seen players wishing all sorts of nonsense on fellow players and their families, with no consequence. I've also seen others doing the same and being banned instantly after, this to me suggests what Riot does best, a haphazard piece of coding. Feederbuster has never been in anything resembling a working condition, and never will.., which is where the religion part of player feedback comes into play. Why report anyone for intentionally playing to ruin games if you get 0 feedback on the person being punished (When it's as clear as daylight), I don't belive in deities either since there is no proof of any of them, ever having been on the planet, and that is what Riot is asking players to do.., put trust into something that they have a proven track record of not doing anything about, until countless games have been ruined. This is where it turns full circle (for me anyway), there is nothing that Riot has done in over 5 seasons, that leads be to believe Riot is working on anything, except to keep the status quo and generate re-sales of the same inventory some players already bought on one account or more.

: I played in Season 1. And Riot actually took toxic behaviour seriously. But now they only care about their pro players. And the fact that several of them had received permabans on multiple accounts, lifetime bans from Riot events etc, and are now pro shows that Riot doesn't care about their players and only those who can make them the most money. I started playing again because a lot changed over the last 2 years. Lots of new items/item reworks, new champs, kit reworks etc I thought I'd try the game out again. Perhaps the community had matured over the last 2 years. How wrong I was. It sounds reasonable to be flamed for making a ban? Okay - I see you're part of the problem. I shouldn't have to dodge. I can ban whichever champion I see fit. I see fit to ban Kayle until she is nerfed. I went asking for trouble? That's like saying if a girl goes out wearing revealing clothes she deserves to be raped. Riot can start actually taking toxicity seriously like they used to. Handing out proper punishments instead of just a measly chat restriction. There's several things Riot could do, but if I told you what they were you'd try and find ways around them. So I wont bother. And no, there is no warning on banning a pre-selected champion.

: You are truly one deranged socially inept individual, and that you are portraying yourself as a child for complaining about a problem YOU started. This thread is only existing because YOU started a problem. He is just a salty fellow with a permabanned account that started a new account (he seems to be level 17) that trolls people in game and in champion select to make them flame him so he can report them and have other people banned as well ... notice that whatever you write him he just spams about "the community" or Riot being "the worst" ... Just a butthurt kid that couldn't keep its head and its account :p
: Then I fail to see why you're defending the other person. I never claimed I wasn't in the wrong. Sure, I should pay more attention to hovered picks, but I'd rather use my pre-game time to change my runes, grab a drink/snack/use the toilet than worry about 1 of 150+ champions. I have banned Kayle in 100% of the games I have played since her rework (unless someone else bans her first). It's nothing against those who want to play her, I just don't want her in my games. On my team or against me, and I am well within my rights to ban her. Regardless of her being hovered or not. But, for me to be told to kill myself and then to have people tell me I'm in the wrong, that simply supports my claim that in 20 years of being a gamer, this is the WORST community I've had the displeasure of being a part of.

: I don't disagree entirely. But, since her rework she's been the champion I ban 100%. I don't pay attention to 'intended picks' as I'm usually using pregame time for the toilet, or grabbing a drink. Yes, that's wrong of me, but it's not against the rules and it's never intended to be toxic/trolling. Oh, I did report them after the game, but as we all know, Riot only cares about the 1%. I sent a message to Riot, with screenshot evidence of a different player telling me to 'slit my wrists' a few days ago and that account has gone entirely unpunished.

With that logic, why isn't the current FeederBuster having that effect? It's far from good enough, but it **does** catch people. We see threads here weekly by people punished by the system for intentionally feeding, and only a small minority of those caught actually make threads about it. Even with the more effective system, IFS, we still see verbal misbehaviour ingame.

Because the threat generated from an obscure and inscrutable system that MIGHT or might NOT punish your behaviour is not the same by a moderator (real or bot) that appears in the chat and says "the next person that brakes the rules gets permabanned" ... If you think that something like that is not "scalable" or it does not work, I will refer you to POKERSTARS which has larger servers than Riot, with more people, and they have moderators for their system ... there noone flames or uses racial slurs or fatal illnesses, even though **real money are on the line** and you know why ? Because if you do it, the first time a moderator (real or bot, noone can say) appears in the table chat and issues a warning. If someone calls the moderator again, another message appears that this is the last warning for everyone involved and next time a moderators is called **heads are going to roll** ... I've actually seen that happen ... But noone ever went past that warning ... noone wants to get permabanned, when they are actually threatened with such a punishment immediately, for their actions. And that is how PokerStars doesn't need too many real moderators, **because only a few people are stupid enough to go past the warning that actually needs a human moderator to appear**, read the chat logs and permaban someone ... Don't believe me .?. Go to PokerStars and try it yourself and see if it works and if it is "scalable" :p

: What if women are just less likely to become competitive gamers or pro gamers for biological reasons and certain people want to deny that? I've also wondered why there are so few female gamers, especially in esports but I don't believe that women are not given the opportunities. What influence could possibly stop you from creating a LoL account and just play and get very good?. Very often people won't even know your gender, you could climb to rank one anonymously, they certainly won't know if you decide not to tell anyone. A lot of men probably climb anonymously without the need to tell everyone their gender. In fact I am never telling anyone my gender ingame, because I don't see any reason, I think it's irrelevant information. The environment is actually ideal to avoid any kind of discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation or whatever, more than a real society could ever be. The fact is that women already constitute about 41% of the gamer population in the United States. But they are still much less likely to become a competitive gamer and extremely unlikely to become a pro gamer. Imo these are just gender differences that you can't engineer away, in more casual gaming you have a pretty good chance that a players is female, but when you look at esports there are almost none, because the gender differences maximize at this extreme.

In uncool stuff for nerds - like gaming was until recently - you will see that it is mostly guys ... not because women are excluded actively, but because a lot of them do not want to be in such uncool activities and those that do rarely do care that much for said nerdy activity to achieve the "no-lifer" status that a lot of guys usually do ... Women are EQUALLY GOOD to all that stuff, but being obsessed and singleminded is just that something that seems to happen mostly to men ... Go to things/contests/conventions that are still "uncool" according to women like cardgaming, board games, D&D, LARP and whatever else "nerdy" and "geeky" you might imagine ... you will find mostly guys and fewer women and the "no lifers" are almost always male ... noone excluded women from the nerdy and geeky stuff, they excluded THEMSELVES and that is all there is to it ... Now gaming is finally "cool" (a.k.a. profitable) and so "they want in" and fast ... it is as simple as that ...

: > I simply don't care whether they had it during beta testing or not and what kind of issue they got. They failed. I think you have no idea about computers and programming. Sometimes things happen, you can't foresee, no matter what you do. Yes, they failed. But everyone else would have failed too. Basically you can compare it to the following scenario: You want to go to a concert. But suddenly someone found a bomb near the building and they have to defuse it and because of that the concert is canceled. (funny thing: I had to leave my home this week for 3 days, because a bomb was found about 100 meters away from my home) Is it frustrating for everyone? Yes. Did some guys cancel plans? Probably Was it the fault of Riot Games (or in my case: The goverment/the people who found the bomb)? No, it was not. You can never be 100% sure, if you do something, especially if it is in correlation with computers. Even the best programmers will have such problems and noone can foresee every single possible problem. What you are saying is basically: "I don't mind if they unblameable. I will still blame them, because I need someone to blame. No matter if it is wrong or correct"

Aside from the strangeness of calling an infamous fun gamemode an alternative to a Competitive Event, the most worrying part is **this**. Because after seeing Riot's workings for the past 8 Seasons, this doesn't inspire me with much certainty. I hope I am proven wrong.

: I believe it was an issue with the "sudden death" mode- Basically after 60 minutes, towers and structures get weaker. After 65 they start to damage themselves and after 70 the game assigns an auto-win. And basically what happened is that the game would do this at the beginning. Also everything was apparently really laggy. And not just in clash- across the entire games. And a whole bunch of other stuff with teams not being able to start their games ect. So basically an unplayable shit experience for everyone.

Yeah, dude ok you are 14, but you need to learn eventually that all those people that work, do not do it out of a hobby, but because they have bills to pay ... if someone skipped work or had to shoulder overtime for the rest of the week to play cRash, that was their choice, yes, but those people will have to hold their end of their bargain with their jobs and Riot didn't ... Some people thought that playing this new mode was WORTH the trouble ... now they are stuck with the trouble, without the redeeming quality of the game they wanted to play. This is something that due to your age you are not supposed to know from personal experience, but it is a deal you will eventually have to understand and the sooner the better :)

If you don't enjoy it, Don't play it but don't bring us down along the way No one cares if you think the game is dying or not, we're still playing meaning that for us, the game is clearly still alive. While we can't provide Clash, we wanted to do something that the community will hopefully find enjoyable, as ARURF is one of our more requested game modes. Alternative or not, the playerbase needs some **compensation** for the trouble Riot put them through, not an effort to pull the wool over their eyes and make them shut up by giving them something to keep them busy ... in that regard I think that the image I posted is exactly what you treated the playerbase with ARURF ... you know that the trick is going to be successful, but it s a blow below the waist regardless of that. I was here when LoL was a growing game and every time a major EU server problem occured Riot gave meaningful compensation to players whose weekends were inconvenienced ... now .?. Now you are swimming in cash and nothing trickles down back to the playerbase. I didn't participate in Clash and I didn't even bother to get the free ticket with most of my accounts, but I think that **it is fair** for Riot to compensate every player that managed to form a team and officially participate in the failed CLASH attempt. COMPENSATE, not PLACATE ... two different words ... > Regardless of whether we enabled this or not, Clash remains canceled for the weekend, but a priority for us to get working as soon as possible. Good for you ... now stop treating your playerbase like toddlers ... it is not much to ask ...

: I'm absolutely with you regarding that this didn't happen on purpose. Riot made a fair share of bad (not to call it stupid) decisions ;), but ofc they didn't decided to make a lot of their customers angry. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of guys at riot beeing really frustrated right now. And I feel sorry for all those who tried there best to make this work. On the other hand, after all the years I spend in the business world ( yes, I'm that old :D ) and saw (and sometimes beeing part of) projects going down in flames, I'm pretty sure there could have been done more. Not enough rescources to "get the job done properly" cause "management knew it better", some supervisor that ignored warnings, structural problems during planing or organising, whatever. Things like this just don't happen out of nowhere. Even in big companies. ;) ok, good night ^^

Things like this just don't happen out of nowhere. Even in big companies. ;) **Especially** in big companies ;) Small companies have a direct chain of command and if something does break down it is relatively easy and fast to coordinate and make things get back on track ... Big companies, on the other hand, usually have vast inter-departmental infrastructure and if the ball drops, the blame-train takes quite a while to make the rounds before anyone is fast enough on their heads to remember that not-so-good-things have hit the fan and something needs to be done :p

Yeah, wasn't it fun that Riot arranged for this flop to premier just before the universal exam month .?. :D but if you mention at any other occasion that Riot's marketing is worthless, fanboys like you people that rushed to re-schedule your lives around the eddicts of Riot, will come out and flame those people ...
